How Gratuity Works
Gratuity is a benefit paid by an employer to an employee for services rendered over a period of time. It's governed by the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972.
Eligibility Criteria
"Employee must have completed at least 5 years of continuous service with the same employer."
The Formula
Gratuity = (Last Drawn Salary × 15 × Years) / 26
Where: Last Drawn Salary = Basic + DA, 15 = days per month, 26 = working days in a month. Service > 6 months is rounded up.
