Optimal viewing distance depends on both screen size and resolution. Higher resolution TVs can be watched closer without seeing individual pixels.
THX recommends 40° viewing angle for theatrical immersion, while SMPTE suggests 30° as the minimum. This calculator uses industry-standard multipliers scaled by resolution.
