What is the fitment factor in the 8th CPC?

The fitment factor is a multiplier applied to your current 7th CPC basic pay to determine revised basic pay. Analyst estimates range from 1.8 to 2.46, while employee unions have demanded up to 3.83. The final factor will be set by the government when recommendations are approved.

Will Dearness Allowance (DA) reset when 8th CPC is implemented?

Yes. When a new Pay Commission is implemented, DA is typically reset to 0% and re-based on the new basic pay. This is why a 2× fitment factor does not mean a 100% in-hand salary increase — the real gain is usually 15–34% depending on the fitment factor and allowance revisions.

How is pension calculated under the 8th CPC?

Pension is typically 50% of the revised basic pay (after applying the fitment factor and fixing to the pay matrix). Family pension is 30% of revised basic with a minimum floor. Dearness Relief (DR) resets to 0% and is rebuilt over time.
